Authorized by the Affordable Care Act, the Health Profession Opportunity Grants (HPOG) program provides education and training to TANF recipients and other low-income individuals for occupations in the health care field that pay well and are expected to either experience labor shortages or be in high demand.
Catholic Charities is participating in this program as a collaborative partner of Pensacola State College who was one of 32 entities located across 23 states in 2010 to be awarded the Health Profession Opportunity Grant which is administered by the Administration for Children and Families (ACF) and funded under the Affordable Care Act.
Catholic Charities provides case management for students participating in the HPOG program.
As a part of this five year pilot program, each grantee offers multiple supportive services, such as financial aid, child care and case management to encourage participants’ successful completion of training. Catholic Charities’ Pensacola Regional Office is honored to provide the case management component to the participants who are enrolled in this program.
